IBM releases storage-management code

Touting its commitment to open standards, IBM on Friday released the source code for Linux-based software to work with an upcoming data storage management product. The software will allow server computers running the Linux operating system to work with IBM's TotalStorage SAN File System, a product slated to be released later this year. The SAN File System aims to make it easier to manage files in Storage Area Networks, which are special-purpose networks that link storage devices to servers.
