IBM, engineering company make IT pact

IBM on Tuesday announced a $351 million, seven-year information technology services deal with engineering and construction company Fluor. IBM will manage the company's global IT operations and provide usage-based pricing to allow Fluor to access computing resources as needed. Under the contract, the computing and IT services titan will support Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based Fluor in four main areas: network infrastructure; desktop and LAN support; global server management; and end-user help desk administration. About 250 Fluor employees are expected to transfer to IBM as part of the deal.
