I enshrined my cat in the creepy 'Game of Thrones' Hall of Faces

The macabre Hall of Faces is set to feature in season 6 of "Game of Thrones." You, too, can become a resident of the ghoulish archive.

A lot of us deeply wish we could stroll onto the set of "Game of Thrones" and be an extra or a walk-on for the popular sword-and-sorcery-and-blood-and-dragons TV series based on George R.R. Martin's books.

We may not be able to meet up with Arya in Braavos at the House of Black and White, but we can become one of the skinned countenances in storage there through HBO's Hall of Faces website.

Quick refresher: On the show, the Hall of Faces is a repository of the skinned faces of the dead, which are used as disguises by a secretive group of assassins known as the Faceless Men (who have accepted being "No One").

You don't just walk into the Hall of Faces. First, the site asks if you are ready to become No One. Next, you upload a photo and fiddle with the controls until you fit it into a predetermined template. It takes a few seconds to process the image and add it to the Hall of Faces.

The result is a very short video filled with dramatic music. It pans over the Hall, showing all your favorite "Thrones" characters enshrined with their eyes closed. It then zooms in on your face in a "Game of Thrones" version of "Dramatic Chipmunk," complete with a musical crescendo.

The biggest problem I had with my video is that my eyes are open and I've got a slight smile on my face, like I'm enjoying life as a disembodied visage. If you want the full-on eerie effect, you might want to snap a fresh selfie with your eyes closed and a somber look on your face.

There's no reason why the face has to be human. I tried it out with CNET test cat Archer and got a kick out of seeing him in residence between Tyrion and Jaime Lannister.

The Hall of Faces site is part of HBO's promotional push for the series' upcoming season 6, set to debut April 24. If you're still working on getting into the mood, then check out this new trailer released Tuesday.
