Hulu launches an ad-free tier...with 7 exempt shows (Tomorrow Daily 236)

Ashley and Khail discuss their favorite phone and wearable out of IFA 2015, and debate if $12.99 is worth it for a (mostly) commercial-free Hulu subscription.

Amazon Prime Video made a splash yesterday by announcing offline viewing for iOS and Android users, and Hulu is hoping to grab some of the spotlight today with their ad-free subscription model reveal. You'll have to pony up $12 a month to enjoy your Hulu TV shows and movies, but you'll have to deal with a slight catch: if you want to binge "Grey's Anatomy," "Grimm," "New Girl," "Scandal," "How to Get Away with Murder," "Once Upon a Time" or "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD," you'll have to sit through an ad before and after each episode. So while it's a huge move for Hulu, there's still an open door for future licensing deals to be excluded from the ad-free content grouping.

We're also chatting about IFA 2015 today; it's one of the biggest tech conferences in the world, and today, Sony and Huawei both announced products we're excited about. The Xperia Z5 Premium has a 4K screen (which could be useful if you use your phone for VR content), a huge battery life, waterproof body and a 23-megapixel camera onboard, making it a very attractive option for Android users looking to upgrade when it's released.
