How fast do you want your 4G? How about CAT4 fast? The new Huawei Ascend P2 is a quad-core Android smart phone with Jelly Bean and the fastest 4G in the land, and it's arriving in June.

The P2's 4G is Category 4 LTE, the cutting-edge version of 4G that promises up to 150Mbps download speeds. Huawei claims it'll be the first CAT4 phone in the UK, but for now you can't get the full benefit: it's too fast for the only 4G network, EE, which can hit a maximum speed of 80Mbps.

Still, as EE's speeds increase and rival networks launch their own 4G services, the P2 won't be left behind.

The follow-up to last year’s Huawei Ascend P1 and its 4G friend the P1 LTE, the P2 is wrapped in an 8.4mm frame fronted by a 4.7-inch touchscreen. The screen is protected by tough second-generation Corning Gorilla Glass, and, thanks to a Huawei's Magic Touch feature, you can tap, swipe and poke the screen even while wearing gloves.

The P2 sports a 13-megapixel camera on the back with high dynamic range options, and a 1.3-megapixel snapper on the front for video calls. And inside there's a 1.5GHz quad-core processor.

Huawei is also keen to point out the beefy battery of the Ascend P2. It's powered by a chunky 2,420mAh battery -- nearly as big as the battery in the Samsung Galaxy S4, by way of comparison -- to keep that big screen glowin' all day long.

The P2 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software, with Huawei’s Emotion interface slapped on top. As well as the usual Android home screen and app-based goodness, the extra features get all emotional with the old-fashioned and much-maligned option to create profiles, allowing you to change all your phone's settings for different situations in one go. That, and some widgets and stuff.

The Huawei Ascend P2 comes in black or white and will be on sale from "various" networks some time in June. Three is first to confirm it will sell the P2.
