HTC Scribe Android tablet on its way in February?
HTC is rumoured to be readying a 7-inch tablet called the HTC Scribe, to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and take on a slew of Android tablet competitors.
Forget Christmas -- that's so last month. Mobile World Congress in February is the most wonderful time of the year for portable gadget fans, and it looks like HTC will be dropping down the chimney with a 7-inch Android tablet called the HTC Scribe.
Pocketnow pointed out that HTC has filed for a patent on a tablet and a trademark on the Scribe name, while Digitimes reported that, according to HTC's parts-making minions in Taiwan, the Scribe will have a 7-inch screen, like the one on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
We're also expecting the Scribe to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The new version of Android was shown off by Google last month, and it's the search behemoth's OS of choice for tablets, rather than previous versions of Android, which were designed for the smaller screens on smart phones.
The Scribe will be going head-to-head with the 10-inch Motorola Motopad tablet, which Moto has been teasing us with for weeks, and the 9.7-inch LG Optimus Pad.
As well as the Android Honeycomb software, the HTC Scribe will have to take on its competitors' dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processors. But HTC has done such a good job with its Android mobiles, including the plus-sized HTC Desire HD, we've got high hopes for the Scribe.
HTC wouldn't comment on the rumours today, but Mobile World Congress starts on 14 February, so you won't have to wait long for more news on the Scribe if you stay tuned to CNET UK.
