The Danelle Vermeulen design firm cooked up this phone concept as a potential pitch to HTC.

Well, this video made a bit of a splash.

Designer Danelle Vermeulen created a video featuring a phone it labeled the HTC Ocean. Apparently, this was an example of how someone might create a "sizzle reel" as a way to "pitch a conceptual idea for CEO buy-in."

That in turn got picked up by veteran mobile leakster Evan Blass, who tweeted the video with the words "More cool HTC stuff here. ... Check it out before it gets pulled!"

It remains to be seen whether any eventual HTC phone lives up to Danelle Vermeulen's concept. The hypothetical Ocean does, though, strike a similar profile to the outline of a device hinted at in a teaser for Google's big press event set for October 4. At that event, Google is expected to announce a pair of phones running the company's latest Android software under the Pixel brand instead of the legacy Nexus name.

HTC declined to comment. Danelle Vermeulen did not respond to a request for comment.
