HTC Legend in the making

A lush new 3D render of the upcoming HTC Legend has surfaced on the Internets and it looks like a magical HTC Hero we dreamed about this one time

We caught a glimpse of the HTC Legend in HTC's leaked road map, and now the ai.rs blog has leaked a lush 3D render and specs of the phone -- which looks like the HTC Hero has beefed up with a Rocky-style training montage.

If we can believe the hype -- and we pray to the phone gods that we can -- an optical trackpad replaces the Hero's trackball, and a fully metal case takes over from Teflon-tastic plastic. Like the Hero, it has an 81mm (3.2-inch) capacitive touchscreen, but it's the AMOLED type like we've seen on the stunning Samsung Galaxy. It's also slimmed down to 11.5mm thin and has just a hint of the Heroic chin.

The 5-megapixel camera is topped up with an LED photo light and there's an FM radio on board. The processor tops out at 600MHz -- puny compared to its rumoured big brother, the HTC Bravo, which boasts a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

So do you like the sound of the pocket-friendly Legend, or would you rather have the Bravo's 94mm (3.7-inch) AMOLED touchscreen and Snapdragon teeth? Either way, it's likely we'll be waiting until spring 2010 to find out.
