HTC Incredible S sports 8-megapixel camera, sticks with Android 2.2

It's a bold heart that names a phone so presumptuously, but HTC clearly thinks fortune favours the bold. Behold, then, the HTC Incredible S!

Behold: the Incredible S! It's a bold heart that names a phone so presumptuously, but HTC clearly thinks fortune favours the bold. The HTC Incredible S is straining credulity at Barcelona phone fiesta MWC this week.

The Incredible S sports a 4-inch screen in its unusual casing. The rubberised back has a ridge around it, which HTC calls "inside out" design. It's just 12mm thick, and weighs a reasonably skinny 136g.

The phone also boasts an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, which can record 720p video -- there's also a 1.3-megapixel front camera for video chat. A 1GHz processor does the brainwork, alongside 768MB of RAM.

The Incredible S will be first to launch of HTC's new S trio, ahead of the Wildfire S and Incredible S -- not to be confused with the Samsung Galaxy S, of course. The new Wildfire and Desire will be bang up to date with version 2.4 of Android, but the Incredible is behind the times on version 2.2 of Google's mobile operating system, codenamed Froyo.

HTC has promised us an update will follow. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long after the Incredible arrives in early Q2, which is marketing-speak for some time this spring.

Does the Incredible S leave you incredulous? Is HTC set for another incredible year in 2011? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
