HP unveils Maybach laptop

Nothing is certain in this world, apart from death, taxes and laptop makers initiating pointless co-branding deals with car manufacturers

Update: HP has confirmed it has no intention of releasing this laptop and that the following story is probably an April Fool's joke. A lame, four-day late, hugely unfunny April Fool's joke.

Nothing is certain in this world but death, taxes and laptop makers initiating pointless co-branding deals with car manufacturers. The latest to join the mid-life crisis gang is HP, with a Maybach-branded laptop.

The HP ns42 seems wrong at first glance. Sure, it's caked in leather and has the familiar (if you're 50 Cent) Maybach logo splashed on the lid, but that doesn't take away from the fact it's basically an HP. Nothing about this laptop says 'Maybach', 'luxury', or 'rap star'. Look at it -- it's an NC6000-series with a fancy logo.

Word on the Web is it'll have a solid-state drive with 64GB of memory, but we'd rather it was made of platinum, littered with diamonds and came with a Jay-Z screensaver. Now that's big pimpin'.

Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed, but we'll bring you more deets as we get 'em. -RR
