HP TouchPad and Pre 3 buyers get refunds
Now that HP has powered down its TouchPad tablet and Pre 3 smart phone, it's offering customers who bought one compensation.
HP is offering compensation to customers who bought the HP TouchPad tablet and Pre 3 smart phone before the company decided to abandon both gadgets.
In a cheery post on its website titled, 'HP webOS devices -- At HP we always think about you!' the organisation has outlined its plans to sneak a few quid back into the pockets of disgruntled buyers. If you bought the 16GB TouchPad, you'll be compensated the difference between your purchasing price and £89.
If you bought the 32GB TouchPad you'll get the difference between the price you paid and £115, and if you just had to have the 64GB model, then you get the difference between what you splashed out and £159.
Meanwhile, Pre 3 buyers get the difference between what they paid and £69. If you want to apply for a refund, you'll need to have activated your webOS account before 23 August this year. You'll need the device's serial number and your receipt too.
HP announced last month it was turning its back on webOS, the operating system that powers both the TouchPad and the Pre 3, making both devices effectively obsolete.
Then the TouchPad had its price slashed to just £90, causing sales to skyrocket and the suddenly in-demand tablet to sell out in no time. The moral of the story? If you want to beat the iPad, make your tablet cheaper. A lot cheaper.
