HP partners for Latin American push
The tech giant signs a deal with Miami-based Terremark to jointly sell computing and communications gear to network and service companies doing business in Latin America.
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based tech giant announced Thursday that it is teaming with Terremark Worldwide, a Miami-based data center builder, to sell more communications and computing gear and services to network operators and service providers that do business in Latin America.
The two companies said the deal is a multiyear arrangement, with both companies sharing in the costs of the partnership as well as in the revenue produced by the effort. Terremark will bring its experience designing networks and its base of carrier customers, while HP will bring its services staff, its existing hosting facilities in Latin America and the support of its "="" said="" eduardo="" araujo,="" vice="" president="" hp's="" latin="" american="" services="" business,="" a="" statement.="" <="" p="">
Terremark operates a network access point (NAP) known as the NAP of the Americas, a Miami facility designed to allow various carriers and Internet service providers to connect among each other. The company has been working in recent months to convert much of its substantial debt into equity. In December, the company converted $21 million worth of its debt.
