HP names new marketing exec

New CEO Mark Hurd makes one of his first high-level changes, promoting an exec from the printing business to chief marketing officer.

Hewlett-Packard's new chief executive, Mark Hurd, has made one of his first high-level executive changes, promoting an executive from the company's printing business to chief marketing officer.

Cathy Lyons, formerly senior vice president of HP's business imaging and printing group, now is executive vice president and CMO, the company said Monday. A successor for her previous job will be named shortly, HP said.

Lyons replaces Mike Winkler, who now will work full-time in his other role as executive vice president of HP's customer solutions group. There, he runs sales and marketing for corporate customers as well as for governments and other private-sector clients.

Winkler stepped into the marketing position in 2002 and took on an expanded role in February, when Allison Johnson left HP for Apple Computer.
