PC shipments in Latin America fell 5.4 percent to 1.7 million units in the third quarter compared with year-ago figures, according to a report released Thursday by research firm Dataquest. Hewlett-Packard, which holds the largest market share in Latin America with a 16 percent foothold, saw its market dominance trimmed back as unit shipments declined 28.7 percent to 276,508 units in the quarter. That reduces HP's market share to 16 percent in the quarter from 21.2 percent a year ago.
