HP lands $100 million Colombia contract

Hewlett-Packard said Tuesday that it has won a $100 million deal to provide PCs to Colombia's largest public utility company. The deal allows the utility to offer PCs and Internet service to Colombian schools, families and small and medium-sized businesses for a monthly fee. HP will be providing Compaq-branded PCs and monitors.

HP said the move will significantly increase its market share in Colombia. The program is scheduled to begin in mid-November in Medellin, Bogota, Pereira, Manizales and Antioquia in Colombia and will then continue throughout the country.
