HP hires Palm exec for marketing post

Satjiv Chahil tapped to be a senior vice president of marketing to help the company market its PCs and handhelds.

Hewlett-Packard has hired Satjiv Chahil, a former executive with Palm, as a senior vice president of marketing to help the company market its PCs and handheld computers. Chahil will report to his old boss Todd Bradley, who also recently came from Palm, to spearhead HP's personal systems group. Bradley said one of Chahil's top priorities will be "to ensure HP extends its leadership position in the small to medium business segment."

Chahil spent nine years at Apple Computer as a global marketing chief and general manager. At Apple, he helped align the company's brand with BMW, Tom Cruise, Independence Day, Disney and the Grammy's. Chahil also helped market Sony Vaio laptops in the United States and Japan.
