HP cuts prices on Pentium servers

Hewlett-Packard slashed prices on Pentium servers by up to 27 percent.

Hewlett-Packard slashed prices on Pentium servers today by as much as 27 percent.

The biggest price reductions affect its NetServer LS application server series. The HP NetServer 5/166 LS application server, for example, has dropped nearly $1,100 to an estimated retail price of $9,800. This model features dual 166-MHz Pentium processors, 64MB of RAM, 1MB of cache per processor, and a quad-speed CD-ROM drive.

The price for the HP NetServer 5/133 LC server was also cut from $3,590 to $2,970, while memory accessory prices were reduced by up to 35 percent.
