Hewlett-Packard announced Thursday the creation of a new business unit that will work toward accelerating the growth of its IT services business. Ann Livermore has been named president of the new operating unit and will report directly to CEO Carly Fiorina.
With this move, HP elevates the status of its IT services organization to an operating unit. With the change, HP now has six such units. Livermore, who was president of HP's business customer group, now has responsibility for HP's services, which includes consulting, outsourcing, support and education, and for strengthening HP's relationships with system integrators. Livermore, who has worked at HP for 19 years, continues as a member of HP's executive council.
