Simon Simpson was having a series of problems with his HP DeskJet 895Cxi printer, including symptoms such as heavy and blurred text in Normal mode, misaligned text, and cut-off text with large font sizes. He contacted Hewlett-Packard's Customer Care and received this reply:

"Hewlett-Packard has noticed some of the same issues that you mentioned in your email regarding the DeskJet 895Cxi printer software. Currently, this driver is under investigation by HP. While it is HP's policy not to comment on products that may be in production, you can sign up for notification via email of any software updates from the HP Web site at the this URL (click on the Notify Me link). There are some work-arounds for some of the issues that you mentioned.

  • If you are getting darker than normal output or the ink is bleeding on the page when printing in Normal mode, try printing in Best mode. In some cases, changing the Paper Type setting to a paper other than Plain, will also correct this. Use premium inkjet paper with the correct Paper Type setting in the print dialog.
  • To correct the margin shifting, compensate by adjusting the application's margin settings or trim the large margin after printing.
  • If specific fonts are not printing properly, try changing to another similar font, or using a different point size."
