How to use Amazon Tap anywhere

You can connect your phone as a mobile hotspot to Amazon Tap.

Amazon Tap takes cuts Alexa's cord. The problem is, Tap turns back into just a Bluetooth speaker without Wi-Fi. Luckily, there's a way to keep Alexa chatting, even when you're on the go. Here's how you can connect Tap to a Wi-Fi mobile hotspot through your phone.

Step 1: Open your Alexa app and go to settings.

Step 2: Select your Tap, and choose "Update Wi-Fi."

Step 3: Hold the Wi-Fi button for five seconds until the lights on the front turn orange.

Step 4: In your phone's network settings, connect to Tap.

Step 5: Go back to the Alexa app. Instead of selecting a Wi-Fi network, scroll to the bottom of the list and select "Use this device as a Wi-Fi Hotspot."

Step 6: A new screen will open, telling you not to activate your hotspot yet. Select "Continue."

The Alexa app looks identical between iOS and Android devices, but the settings screens will differ in layout depending on your phone. Here are the menus for an Android device.
