Acknowledging that any high-powered business person worth their cellular phone now has to have email, Marriott Hotels has signed a cross-promotional deal with Juno, a free Internet email service funded by advertising.
The company is promoting the availability of free email accounts to members of its Honored Guests Awards and Marriott Miles programs.
The Juno service is available to anyone who signs up for it, but the agreement means that Marriott will be promoted to members through interactive advertisements on the Juno service. Users are required to indicate their interests and provide demographic information when signing up, information studied by advertisers to target consumers.
