The holidays are good time to remind us that we are all connected by a common thread. Netflix's unusual sci-fi saga "Sense8" tells the story of eight strangers from all over the globe who find out they are "sensates" -- humans who are mentally and emotionally linked, and can interchange their knowledge of everything from languages to fighting skills.
The Emmy-nominated sci-fi drama from "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski and "The Matrix" creators Lana and Lilly Wachowski, (although Lilly is leaving the show) aired its first season last year. And now, fans will finally see the story continued in a Christmas special available to stream on December 23, and a long-anticipated second season premiering on May 5, 2017.
The "Sense8 - A Christmas Special" trailer, which debuted on December 16, shows new cast member Toby Onwumere who will replace Aml Ameen as the Jean-Claude Van Damme-fan and taxi driver character Capheus.
The trailer gives glimpses of festive holiday cheer, snowfall and a rather ominous greeting. Plus it looks like there will still be plenty of martial arts action thanks to character Sun Bak (played by Doona Bae).
Tune in for the Christmas special, then wait patiently for the the story of "Sense8" to continue with 10 new episodes on May 5, 2017.
"Sense8" co-creator Lana Wachowski also had a holiday greeting of her own explaining how the holiday special came to be, plus there even more footage from the Christmas special in this video below.
