Hitachi promotes marketing exec

Storage system maker Hitachi Data Systems has promoted Scott Genereux to vice president of global marketing and business development, a new position, the EMC competitor said Monday. Genereux previously was vice president of U.S. sales, service and support. Among other things, Genereux will oversee the company's TrueNorth strategy, which tries to build ties between its HiCommand management software, its storage systems and its partnerships with companies such as Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard.
