Hitachi has invested an undisclosed amount in Voltaire, a start-up building networking equipment to connect servers and storage devices with high-speed InfiniBand communications technology, the companies plan to announce Monday. In addition, the two companies will jointly work on InfiniBand technology.

In addition, Arun Jain has joined Voltaire as vice president of marketing. Jain previously worked at optical networking company KereniX and at Nortel Networks.
