Here's why you're seeing #Spectacles everywhere (hint: it's not about reading)

Spectacle mania is here. I wanted to see just how crazy people are getting about Snap's new eye wear.

#Spectacles isn't trending because your parents are in need of new magnifiers. Snap's new Spectacles, glasses that let you record and upload to Snapchat, are white hot right now.

We got a pair here at CNET HQ yesterday and CNET's Lexy Savvides has already given us her first impressions. Our full review is coming soon.

What's amazing is just how excited people are about these things, standing in line in the wee hours of the morning for a chance to buy them at a Snapbot or paying enormous amounts of money on eBay to get a pair. They cost $130 if you're lucky enough to get them at a Snapbot, but are going for over $2,000 on eBay.

In other words, this is the new craze in the tech world.

I decided to see what people are saying on Twitter about Snap's new eye wear. I'll start with this great drone shot of the line in Santa Monica, California, this morning from Kraig Adams.

This guy stands to make a lot of money (and if you follow the replies, people aren't too happy about it):

Not everyone is excited:

Some people might be a little too excited:

People from other places are hoping their city is next on the list for the Snapbot:
