Here are the six films you can watch on 4K Blu-ray right now

Got a 4k Ultra HD TV? Now you can get a 4K Blu-ray player to go with it, but be warned that the choice of movies is a little limited right now.

One of the big issues with owning a 4K Ultra HD TV has been the lack of 4K content to go with it. Unless you were living in an area with high-speed internet, you probably couldn't even get Netflix in 4K consistently.

After being touted for ages, 4K Blu-ray discs, physical media capable of storing an Ultra HD movie, have finally arrived and just last week Samsung launched Australia's first Blu-ray players compatible with the new format, the UBD-K8500.

But if you're excited to started replacing all of your old favourite movies with the new 4K versions, you might want to hold off. At the moment there are only six movies you can buy, all from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

The titles are: "Kingsman: The Secret Service", "X-Men: Days Of Future Past", "Life of Pi", "Maze Runner", "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" and "The Martian".

But don't panic as more are on the way. By the end of May, Fox will have added "The Revenant" (May 18) and "Deadpool" (May 28) to its line-up. Roadshow is also getting in on the game with "Mad Max: Fury Road", "The Lego Movie" and "San Andreas" all on May 18, with more to follow in the following months.

Be warned though: If you are a huge "Maze Runner" fan and desperately hunting these down in your local retailer, at least one store we located had the six movies in stock, but not on display. We were told it was because of the small number of compatible players in the market.
