Hayes adapts to ISDN bandwidth

Telecommuters and Internet surfers will be able to hit speeds as high as 460 kbps with a new Hayes ISDN terminal adapter.

Hayes says telecommuters and Internet surfers will be able to hit speeds as high as 460 kbps with a new ISDN terminal adapter.

The company says that up to six external analog devices such as modems, telephones, and fax machines can be run off a single ISDN line through two ports. Calls are automatically identified as analog or digital and are routed to the appropriate device.

To ease installation and use, the Accura ISDN adapter conforms to the Bellcore EZ ISDN installation ordering code and has a Microsoft Windows-based configuration manager that Hayes says is globally compatible with phone company equipment. Once set up, the adapter automatically and accepts incoming calls for a variety of ISDN protocols, including PPP, V.120 and V.110. The modem supports Windows 95 Plug and Play.

The Accura ISDN adapter will be available in December for $369 for Windows-based computers.
