Handspring board snags former FCC head

Handspring named former Federal Communications Commission Chairman William Kennard to its board Tuesday, just three months after he stepped down from the agency. While personal digital assistants such as those made by Handspring have not been heavily regulated, Chief Executive Donna Dubinsky said that wireless communications, which the FCC oversees, is "an area of increased focus for Handspring." Kennard joins Dubinsky and Chief Product Officer Jeff Hawkins--founders of both Handspring and Palm Computing--on the board, along with three others. It is the first corporate board seat for the telecommunications attorney since leaving the FCC.
