UR There, maker of the @migo handheld, said Monday it will offer a software upgrade that will allow existing devices to run the new version of Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system when it is released next month. UR There said the upgrade will be free for those who purchased their @migo after Sept. 1. Those who purchased their @migo before that date can upgrade for a yet-to-be-announced handling fee.
Compaq Computer has also announced upgrade plans for iPaq handheld owners, while existing Pocket PC-based devices from Hewlett-Packard and Casio are not upgradeable. Both HP and Casio have handhelds in the works that use the new OS; HP already announced details of its new Jornadas.
