Apple

Maybe you know Gwyneth Paltrow as one of the stars of "Shakespeare in Love" or as the "guru" who sings the praises of detoxes and cleanses on her lifestyle site, Goop. Now she has another title: mentor of techies.

Paltrow and entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk joined entertainer will.i.am as advisors on Apple's reality TV series, "Planet of the Apps."

The new program signals Apple's move toward creating original shows, following in the footsteps of Netflix and Amazon. "Planet of the Apps," announced in March, will follow software developers as they (hope to) create the next superstar app. Apple partnered with production company Propagate to produce the show, and casting calls have already begun.

"This is a great opportunity to be part of a series that lets us use our experiences to help app developers break through and create viable businesses that will impact peoples' lives," said Paltrow in a press release.

Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
