Growth in TV tuner cards projected

The worldwide market for both analog and digital TV tuner cards, which let people get television signals on their PCs, will grow from $473 million in 2000 to $1.8 billion in 2005, according to a new report from Cahners In-Stat Group. The increase will be driven by the delivery of services, such as e-commerce portals and pay-per-view programming, via satellite transmission. In-Stat forecasts that revenue for analog tuners will slow as the market for digital tuners takes off.
