Great Scott! Doc Brown has a new 'Back to the Future' short

It's just a few weeks till the 2015 date Marty McFly and Doc Brown visited from 1985. To celebrate, Doc is going Back to the Future one more time.

We're just a few weeks away from the future many of us have known since childhood.

October 21, 2015 is the date that a young Marty McFly and Doc Brown visited in the 1989 classic "Back to the Future: Part II," and the studio behind the film is celebrating with a 30th anniversary box set that will also include a new short -- "Doc Brown Saves the World." (The first film in the franchise came out in 1985.)

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment posted the below teaser on YouTube this week. It doesn't reveal much, but we do get to see Christopher Lloyd still looking like the original Doc some three decades later and sporting those awesome self-lacing high tops.

Lloyd has been making the most of the approaching psuedo-historic milestone, showing up in Doc Brown's DeLorean at CES 2014 and punking the world with Tony Hawk in a Funny or Die . That last one was especially confusing because less than a year later we did see Tony Hawk ride a real, if less impressive, hoverboard.

If all this is a little hazy in your memory, you can easily get nostalgic with your Amazon Prime membership, because Wednesday brought word that the "BTTF" trilogy is being added to the streaming service's offerings in advance of the big day. I recommend kicking back and revisiting Hill Valley across three centuries, then considering what the franchise might look like if it were released today, with Marty and Doc Brown visiting 2045 instead.
