Google Nexus Prime leaked by Samsung with suspect specs
Samsung appears to have confirmed the Google Nexus Prime, the next flagship Android phone.
Samsung has confirmed the name of the next Google Phone: Nexus Prime. The name of the latest flagship Android phone heads a document listing the phone's -- rather dubious -- details.
Google likes to have a smart phone bearing the Nexus name leading the line-up of devices that use its Android software for phones and tablets. The forthcoming Nexus Prime will follow the Google Nexus S, also built by Samsung, and the original Google Nexus One, built by HTC.
Samsung inadvertently revealed the name and some specs in the phone's user agent profile, a file that describes the phone's features and capabilities to developers.
The file may confirm the name we already knew, but the specs are a different matter. The user agent profile lists the Nexus prime as sporting a 480x800-pixel screen and an ARM11 processor -- rather paltry compared to many smart phones. Previous rumours have suggested the Nexus Prime would boast an eye-scorchingly detailed Super AMOLED HD screen, so we suspect these specs are suspect.
One thing we're sure of is that the Google Nexus Prime will be first phone to run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Ice Cream Sandwich is the next version of Android and will bring together the phone-focussed Gingerbread and tablet-focussed Honeycomb versions.
The Nexus Prime name has been whispered for a while, but this is the closest we've come to official confirmation. The file reveals the Nexus Prime is also known as the GT-I9250 -- a phone currently being signed off by the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth people, which means it could be pretty close to release.
