Google named Elliot Schrage vice president of global communications and public affairs Monday to head up its relationship with various constituents worldwide.

Schrage, who will report to Google's chief executive, Eric Schmidt, previously served as a Bernard L. Schwarz senior fellow in business and foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, as well as an adviser on corporate responsibility to several large companies.
