Google Android event cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy
Google's event tomorrow has been cancelled, so we'll have to wait a little longer to hear about the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.
Google has cancelled tomorrow's Android event due to Hurricane Sandy, The Verge reports.
The event was due to take place in New York City, on a waterfront pier that's now become part of an evacuation zone. If it sticks to its current path, Sandy is expected to hit somewhere between Delaware and New York, according to Reuters.
A statement from Google reads: "We are canceling [sic] our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more."
There's no word on when the event will be held, but hopefully it'll be rescheduled for sometime soon.
The star of Monday's show was expected to be LG's Nexus 4, the 4.7-inch smart phone that's been doing the rounds online lately. We've seen leaked snaps, a hands on review, as well as prices on contract and SIM-free, so it shouldn't hold too many surprises.
Samsung's Nexus 10 tablet is shrouded in a little more mystery. We know it'll be a 10-inch slate with a stonkingly high resolution screen (2,560x1,600-pixels). It's rumoured to have a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, as well as a 5-megapixel camera. One Google exec has taken one on holiday with him too, judging from the snaps he's been uploading to Google Plus.
As well as these two devices, Google was expected to announce it'll open up the Nexus brand to anyone who wants to make devices for it. All you have to do to name your Android gadget a Nexus is make sure it meets Google's spec requirements.
The Nexus 4 was due to start shipping on Tuesday, so expect that date to slip.
