GoFundMe campaign for Las Vegas shooting victims nears $3M
After the relief fund reached its $2 million goal, the target amount was reset to $3.5 million on Monday night.
Las Vegas residents began lining up to donate blood at United Blood Services in Northwest Las Vegas not long after news of the mass shooting began to spread.
An online campaign to raise money to help the victims of the deadly Las Vegas shooting has raised nearly $3 million in less than 24 hours.
The GoFundMe campaign was created Monday by Steve Sisolak, the Clark County Commission chair from Las Vegas. The campaign passed its original $2 million goal on Monday evening. Sisolak then reset the goal to $3.5 million. Nearly 43,000 people have contributed to the campaign.
"I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the Las Vegas community & beyond. We need more donations, every penny will be put to use," Sisolak said in a tweet.

Sisolak, who is running for Nevada governor, started the fund with Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo. Sisolak said in a tweet that he had pledged the first $10,000.
The fund will be used to provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of Sunday night's massacre. The mass shooting claimed the lives of 59 people and left another 527 injured when a gunman perched on the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas Strip casino started firing on concert-goers at an outdoor country music festival below. It's considered the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.
