I didn't think I could love a printer. I mean, sure, I thought I might like the Epson WorkForce 840, what with its speedy printing, copying, scanning, and faxing and all.

But then, during my review, I kept discovering surprising and unexpected features. It has a 7.8-inch touch-screen interface? Two paper trays with a combined capacity of 500 sheets? 802.11n Wi-Fi?

Already, that's mighty impressive for a multifunction printer Epson has on sale for $179.99 shipped (after applying coupon code WELCOME9F at checkout). The list price on this model is $299.99.

So, yeah, I was liking it. But what turned my everyday admiration into moony-eyed geek love was the WorkForce 840's dual duplexers: This baby can not only print double-sided pages, but also scan them. You just don't see that in a $179.99 MFP.

Double-sided printing is awesome, as it saves both paper and money. And Epson claims the 840 offers the world's fastest double-sided output (7.4 pages per minute for black pages, 5.4 ppm for color).

I also like how it can scan documents and photos directly to your PC or a USB flash drive or memory card. If you go the latter route, you can choose between PDF and JPEG formats. Plus, there's a free Epson iPrint app for wirelessly beaming photos from your iDevice.

In short, I love this printer. (You can read more about why in my aforementioned review.) Much as I tend to prefer lasers, I could see using this on a daily basis.
