My cheapskate senses tell me not to post this, because it's so very likely to sell out right around the time I click "publish," but I just can't help it. (That's why I'm padding today's post with two bonus deals.)

Today only, and while supplies last, Best Buy has the Toshiba Canvio 1TB portable USB 3.0 hard drive for $69.99 shipped (plus sales tax where applicable). That's $20 off the regular price -- not a mammoth savings, I grant you, but still a great deal on a great drive.

What makes it so great? For starters, it's a portable (read: ultracompact) drive, measuring just 4.7 x 3.1 x 0.7 inches and weighing a mere 6.3 ounces. That means no external power supply; it gets all the power it needs from a USB port.

Speaking of which, it's a USB 3.0 drive (though backward-compatible with USB 2.0), so you'll enjoy significantly speedier operation than you've had from older drives. A full-system backup that previously took a few hours might finish in, say, 30 minutes.

To that end, the drive comes with preloaded backup software: NTI Backup Now EZ. With it you can back up files to the cloud (though you'll have to pay extra for that), make a full system backup, or preserve selected files and folders. (You can also do all three.)

Perhaps best of all, the Canvio is backed by a three-year warranty. With most external drives, you're lucky to get two years; one year is pretty standard.

Best Buy's handful of user reviews peg this as a five-star product, and over at Amazon it averages four stars out of five from nearly 50 reviewers.

As I said before, I suspect these will sell out quickly. If you're interested, I hope you're able to grab one!

Bonus deal: Game time! THQ will give you a free download of Metro 2033 (PC) when you "like" the company's Facebook page. GameSpot awarded this post-apocalyptic FPS, which sells on Steam for $19.99, an 8.0.

Bonus deal No. 2: Calling all Mac owners! Today only, and while supplies last, Daily Steals has the Mobee Magic Bar or Magic Charger for $15 shipped. These inductive chargers for the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard/Magic Trackpad and Apple Magic Mouse, respectively, list for $39.99 each. Inductive chargers: woo! But take note: I've heard increasing complaints of late that Daily Steals is slow to ship and poor at responding to customer inquiries. YMMV.
