Get a TiVo Premiere DVR for $147 shipped

Believe it or not, this is new, not refurbished, and rebate-free to boot. You'll still have to pay for a TiVo subscription, but at least the hardware's cheap!

The Premiere is TiVo's flagship DVR. Here's your chance to score one for half price. TiVo

I don't know if this is a mistake or an oversight or what, but I just ordered a TiVo Premiere for $146.92. A new one, not a refurb. That's less than half the list price, and without question the best deal I've ever seen on a new, current-gen TiVo.

To get it, you need to apply coupon code LABORDAYWEEKEND at checkout. Given that Labor Day weekend ended a little over a week ago, I'm surprised the code still works. But it does, at least as of 9 a.m. ET.

Update: Looks like the deal is over, folks. Congrats to those of you who managed to get it; apologies to those who didn't. But check this out: TiVo itself is running a fairly amazing promotion. For $20 per month (plus tax), you get the TiVo Premiere and service! The only hitch: you have to sign up for a two-year contract.

This is TiVo model TCD746320, which can record up to 45 hours of HD programming via CableCard or antenna. You can read all the details in CNET's curiously unfinished review or on TiVo's product page.

I know that when this model debuted earlier this year, there were complaints about the sluggish interface. My question to current Premiere owners: has anything changed? I'm hoping there's been a software update or two, because if I want a sluggish interface, I'll stick with my Comcast DVR.

Anyway, as you probably know, the TiVo requires a subscription; plans start at $12.95 per month (which is why I've held off buying one for so long).

I have no idea how long Electronics Expo will have these in stock or when they'll pull the plug on that amazing discount code. If you're in the market for a TiVo, I'd grab this now.

Bonus deal: If you're an iPhone, iPad, or iPod owner, you can grab adventure classic Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge for just 99 cents. It's normally $7.99!
