Does it make sense to buy fancy headphones?

If your answer was a rousing "yes!", you'll be glad to know that "fancy" doesn't have to mean "expensive" -- not today, anyway. While supplies last, DealFisher has the Logitech UE 6000 noise-cancelling headphones for $99.99 shipped. They list for $199.99 and sell elsewhere for at least $140.

These are factory-refurbished headphones, but DealFisher says they're in "new/excellent" condition and is going so far as to offer a full 365-day warranty. In other words, although Logitech typically would give you only 90 days, the reseller is willing to back the product for a year.

Even without that guarantee, this is a sweet deal. The UE 6000 has the look and feel of high-end over-the-ear headphones, with a folding design for easier transport and an inline microphone so you can make and take calls. Also inline: a remote with volume and play/pause buttons, which is the best headphone/earphone feature ever.

The UE 6000 runs on a pair of AAA batteries, used here to generate noise-cancellation signals -- a great perk for folks who routinely ride planes and trains. You also get a carrying case and a splitter so you can share your tunes with a friend.

CNET Asia reviewed the UE 6000 about a year ago, awarding it four stars and heaping on this praise: "Best-sounding active noise-canceling headphones we've listened to." And over at Amazon, some 85 buyers collectively rated it 4.5 stars out of 5.

Now, because I like to travel as light as possible, I tend to prefer in-ear 'phones, which do a pretty decent job of blocking outside noise. That said, I know there are plenty of audiophiles who like their cans; if you're one of them, this is definitely a deal worth considering.

Bonus deal: Multifunction Monday! For a limited time, and while supplies last, Epson is offering the refurbished WorkForce WF-2540 multifunction printer for $89 shipped. Update: Scratch that. Amazon has the same model new for the same price. Designed for home offices, this versatile model prints, scans, copies, and faxes. It's wireless, as all such devices should be, and it supports both AirPrint and Google Cloud Print. Check out CNET's glowing review.
