Get a Logitech Harmony One remote for $99.99

My all-time favorite remote usually sells for $200. You can get it for half that if you're willing to gamble on a refurb.

This is an update of a deal I posted last year.

My Logitech Harmony One remote control has outlasted two TVs and one DVR. After a good three years of use, I can say without a doubt that it's my favorite clicker ever. CNET agrees with me, calling it "arguably the best consumer remote control currently available" in its review.

Unfortunately, Logitech still sells it for $200, which is not much less than when it first debuted years ago. However, if you don't mind going the refurb route, Logitech will set you up with a Harmony One remote for $99.99 shipped. That's after applying coupon code logi_h1_22212 at checkout.

That's the lowest price I can recall seeing for a Harmony One; previous deals were around $30 higher, and those often involved mail-in rebates.

The catch is the warranty: As with many refurbished products, this one is covered for 90 days instead of one year. That's the only thing that gives me pause, though as I mentioned, my three-year old One has survived considerable abuse at the hands of children and is still going strong.

What makes a universal remote worth $100? The Harmony's claim to fame is a simple (relatively speaking) Web-based interface for setting up your devices, programming "activities" (aka macros), and so on.

The One raises the bar even further with a color touchscreen, a perfect button layout, and a docking station that keeps its rechargeable battery topped off.

CNET's review should tell you everything you need to know about the Harmony One. It's also worth perusing the user reviews on Logitech's product page, which average out to four stars out of five.

The usual caveat applies: I'm not sure how long this coupon code will be in effect or how much inventory Logitech has on hand. As always, if you want to score the deal, act fast!
