Get a Lenovo IdeaPad A1 7-inch tablet for $167.20 shipped

That's a $31.80 drop compared to last week, and the best deal to date on a 7-inch Android tablet. It's available in white or pink!

The 7-inch IdeaPad A1 tablet is a steal at $167 shipped.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: prices always come down. (OK, hard-drive prices recently went up, but that was after years of drops.) If you're not ready to pull the trigger on an item because you think it's too expensive, just wait a while.

Or, in this case, a week.

A mere six days ago, I wrote up the Lenovo IdeaPad A1 at $199. Today, it's quite a bit less.

Update: Sorry, everyone, looks like the price is back up to $199. I had it on good authority that this deal would run for nearly a week, but apparently Lenovo pulled the plug early. However, some commenters have reported calling Lenovo and getting them to honor the advertised $167 price. YMMV!

Until January 25, or supplies run out, Lenovo is offering the IdeaPad A1 7-inch Android tablet for $167.20 shipped. That's after applying coupon code EMPLOYEEPRICE0119 at checkout.

That link is for the white model; you can also score the A1 in pink!

Amazingly, both versions are new, not refurbished.

Allow me to quickly recap some key specs. The IdeaPad A1 features a 1GHz processor, 16GB of storage, front- and rear-facing cameras (0.3 and 3.0 megapixels, respectively), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, offline GPS, and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

CNET hasn't reviewed the A1, but the user reviews over at Amazon are mostly positive.

If you purchased this tablet last week at the $199 price, it's probably worth a call to Lenovo (866-428-4465) to see if they'll credit you the difference (although because that model was black and these are white/pink, I wouldn't expect much traction).

At $199, I thought the IdeaPad A1 was a smart alternative to, say, the Kindle Fire. At $167, it's an outright steal. And, hey, fellas, that pink version might be a nice gift for your sweetie; Valentine's Day is just around the corner, you know.
