The Garmin Nuvi 255w offers rock-solid, basic GPS navigation and a novice-friendly interface. Newegg

I've spent a fair amount of time this summer driving the backwoods of northern Michigan. Without a GPS, I'd still be out there. Seriously, how did people navigate before these things came along? (Oh, right: maps.)

If you're tired of getting lost, or you're just looking for an inexpensive replacement for a crummy, outdated nav system, Newegg has a refurbished Garmin Nuvi 255W 4.3-inch GPS for $79.99.

Shipping adds another $1.99--and nets you a free Dolica GPS bag (a $12.99 value!). Not at all shabby, my friends, not at all shabby.

Update: Sorry, folks, looks like it's already sold out. A not-at-all-bad alternative: the refurbished TomTom XL 330S for $68 (plus sales tax). Very similar feature set, plus TomTom's slick Map Share.

I won't bore you with a lot of details on the Nuvi; you can read CNET's review for the full scoop. I will say it's a fairly entry-level model without a lot of bells and whistles--but it's noteworthy for its fast start-up, easy interface, and helpful "Where Am I?" feature.

Also noteworthy: this model sells for at least $149.99 just about everywhere else. Nuvi deals as good as this one are few and far between, so I'd hop on it if you're interested.

Bonus deal No. 1: Today only, Woot.com has a refurbished current-generation iPod Touch (8GB) for $129.99, plus $5 for shipping. That's one of the lowest prices I've seen. However, the warranty expires after 90 days, not one year as with most Apple refurbs. Still, the sellout potential is huge.

Bonus deal No. 2: Game on! The EA Store is offering the mega-popular Mass Effect (PC) for just $4.99. (That's for the download version, natch.) You can also pick up Mass Effect 2 for $23.97.
