Get a 4th-gen iPod Touch (8GB) for $129
Even better, get the 32GB model for $179. Looks like Apple really wants to move the refurbs. Sellout risk: monster.

If you ask me, there's no better gift item for a kid than an iPod Touch. Music, videos, games, e-mail, books, cameras, apps -- they're all there, all in one pocket-friendly package.
For a limited time, and while supplies last, Apple has cut prices on refurbished Touches. To wit: You can get a fourth-gen iPod Touch with 8GB for $129 shipped, a 32GB Touch for $179, or a 64GB Touch for $229. (All those links go to the black versions, but they're available in white as well for the same prices.)
To put that in some perspective, the 8GB and 32GB Touches sell new for $199 and $249, respectively. (The 64GB model appears to be gone.) So you're saving $70 by opting for a refurb. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Apple refurbs are quite literally good as new.
Although these aren't the current-generation iPods, the ones with the iPhone 5-size screen and Lightning connector, they're still extremely capable devices. They have Retina screens, dual cameras, support for FaceTime and iMessage, and so on.
To say my kids (ages 12 and 10) love theirs would be a huge understatement. The Touch really is the ideal all-purpose device for anyone too young for a cell phone.
And they've rarely been this cheap. Consequently, this being the holiday-shopping time of year, I suspect they may sell out quick. I definitely recommend the 32GB model at least, as 8GB really doesn't hold enough apps and media, but whichever configuration you choose, you stand to score a major deal.
Bonus deal: Rumor has it we'll be seeing some sub-$40 Blu-ray players on Black Friday. Why wait? Wal-Mart has the refurbished Toshiba BDX2250KU Blu-ray player with Wi-Fi for $39.88 plus tax, with free site-to-store shipping. OK, maybe the 90-day warranty is why you should wait, but that's still a mighty tempting price -- and no overnight line to stand in.
