Get a 37-inch Sceptre HDTV for $279.99

This surprisingly well-equipped LCD features 1080p resolution, three HDMI inputs, and even a bundled HDMI cable. It's new, not refurbished, with a full warranty.

The Sceptre X372BV-FHD comes with three HDMI inputs and an HDMI cable! Sears

Pity the poor 37-inch LCD: too small for the living room, too big for the bedroom. And, yet, I feel like I could find a home for today's deal.

Sears has the Sceptre X372BV-FHD 37-inch LCD HDTV for $279.99, plus sales tax in most states and around $19 for shipping. In a world where finding a 32-inch TV for less than $300 is still a rarity, and this model sells for more than $400 everywhere else, this is one mighty spectacular bargain.

Consequently, you might expect pretty basic specs. But the Sceptre is actually a well-equipped TV, starting with its full 1080p resolution. Most would say that's overkill for a screen of this size (heck, I've said it myself), but I certainly won't turn it down.

It also offers a 4,000:1 contrast ratio, three HDMI inputs, and--hold on to your hats--a bundled HDMI cable! I know, it's a $4 item, but somehow I just love the fact that it's included.

This is a new TV, not a refurb, so it comes with a one-year warranty. I haven't found any reviews to speak of, though you can check out these two very positive ones at Overstock.com (where the Sceptre sells for $449.99, FYI).

If you're in the market for a medium-size TV, I've yet to find a better price than this one. The only caveat: it may sell out quickly. Great deals almost always do.

Bonus deal: Need a universal remote to go with the TV? Meritline has the refurbished/white-box Harmony 510 remote for $40.99 shipped. That's after applying coupon code MLC6G8AXNL1 at checkout. It can replace up to five remotes. I'm a longtime fan of the Harmony line.
