Not every room demands -- or even accommodates -- a big TV. A den, dorm room, bedroom, or similarly smallish space would benefit from something, well, smallish.
Like this: Today only, and while supplies last, Best Buy has the Insignia NS-28D310NA15 28-inch HDTV for $129.99. Shipping is free, though you'll likely be on the hook for sales tax.
Insignia is, of course, Best Buy's house brand. And with a price like this, you know this is going to be a pretty no-frills TV. Which it is. But who needs frills as long as it adequately covers the basics?
The screen has a 1,366x768 native resolution, otherwise known as 720p. What, no 1080? At this size, it really doesn't matter. What matters is that it has LED backlighting, which should last a good long time.
Other specs include two HDMI inputs and an MHL input, the latter good for the five people who bought Roku's original Streaming Stick (Roku Ready version).
Needless to say, what's most important for a TV like this is what other buyers thought of it. The NS-28D310NA15 earned an average of 4.5 stars (out of five) from nearly 350 customers, which to me speaks volumes: If you're looking for a TV of this size, you can't go wrong with this model.
Especially at this price. (It normally sells for $179.99.) Your thoughts?
Bonus deal: Still paying your cable company a rental fee for your cable modem? Quit it! For a limited time, and while supplies last, Woot has the refurbished Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem for $39.99, plus $5 for shipping. It's not uncommon to see these selling in the $70-to-$80 range, so there's a good chance these will sell out quickly.
Bonus deal No. 2: As party games go, you can't beat Heads Up, a kind of rapid-fire Charades. It normally sells for a whopping one dollar, but for a limited time, you can get Heads Up for iOS for free. It comes with 18 "decks," and you can add more via in-app purchase. And with the current PRODUCT(RED) version, proceeds from those add-ons go to a very worthy cause.
