In the market for a new camera? Kodak's EasyShare M341 is a 12.2-megapixel model that's earned pretty solid reviews. And right now, Geeks.com has the EasyShare M341 on sale for $104.99--a solid price considering that it sells for upwards of $130 elsewhere and $150 if you buy it from Kodak.
However, there's a nice little perk that goes with this offer: When you buy the M341, you get a free SmartParts SP8PRT 8-inch digital photo frame with built-in photo printer. Let's start with the camera. In addition to its 12.2-megapixel sensor, the EasyShare M341 features a 3x optical zoom, 2.7-inch LCD, 32MB of internal memory, and support for 30fps video recording.
Other amenities include face-detection and blur-reduction technology, an orientation sensor that rotates pictures depending on how you hold the camera, and automatic flash, focus, and exposure controls.
As for the photo frame, well, yeah, it's a gimmick. The 8-inch LCD is surrounded by a nice-looking wood frame, both of which conceal a bulky dye-sublimation printer attached to the back. It can crank out 4x6-inch prints--36 per cartridge--on special paper that's actually part of the cartridge. (Replacements sell for about $20 each.)
CNET did not have a lot of nice things to say about the SmartParts SP8PRT--but keep in mind, that's when the thing was selling for $300. As a freebie, hey, what's not to like?
To my thinking, you futz around with the printer, burn through your 36 prints, and if you don't like the results, no harm done. You've still got yourself an attractive digital photo frame.
