Like movies? Like free stuff? Then today is definitely your lucky day.

For what promises to be a limited time, Walmart movie-streaming service Vudu is offering 10 free movies when you sign up for a new account. (Just click the green Sign Up button and you'll see the promo.)

This is a surprisingly no-strings attached offer. All you need to create an account is your name, e-mail address, and date of birth. Or, if you prefer, you can sign up using your Facebook account. Although Vudu will ask for billing information, you don't need to provide it (though you will if you ever decide to rent or buy additional movies, natch).

Speaking of rentals, you might think you're limited to one-time viewing of these flicks, but they're actually yours to keep. You can stream them on your PC or any Vudu-compatible device: Android, iOS, Roku, PS3, Xbox 360, and some Blu-ray players and TVs.

So, what kind of Z-grade junk cinema is Vudu giving away? Surprisingly, the collection includes some pretty good stuff, most of which you've almost certainly heard of:

  • "Behind Enemy Lines"
  • "Big Trouble in Little China"
  • "Lethal Weapon"
  • "Never Been Kissed"
  • "The Perfect Storm"
  • "The Producers"
  • "Psycho"
  • "The Siege"
  • "Valentine's Day"
  • "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End"

I wish Vudu had included at least one family-friendly title, and it would have been nice if they'd offered the HD versions instead of SD. But, hey, beggars can't be choosers. These titles are priced at $9.99 apiece to purchase, so you're literally getting $100' worth of free flicks.

A quick note to Chrome users: After signing up, I couldn't get any movies to display in my library. But when I switched over to Internet Explorer and Firefox, they were there. Not sure if it's a Chrome issue or something specific to my PC, so your mileage may vary.

What do you think? Are these freebies worth signing up for Yet Another Service?

Bonus deal: Game time! Walmart is offering two select videogames for $15, plus sales tax and $3.94 for shipping. You can choose from over 60 titles and mix-and-match between Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Two very solid picks: Bulletstorm and Red Faction: Armageddon.
