German services firm inks deal with EMC

Under the agreement, Comparex Holdings will offer its products and EMC's assessment and software implementation services to customers.

German services firm Comparex Holdings has inked a five-year deal to market and sell technology and services from storage hardware giant EMC.

Under the agreement announced today, Comparex will offer its products and EMC's assessment and software implementation services to customers. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

EMC is a top player in the high-end storage market with complex systems that attach to mainframes, Unix servers and Windows NT-based systems. But the company faces increasing competition from Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Hitachi and Sun Microsystems in the storage market.

Comparex is a distributor of storage systems and migrations services for IBM System 390 mainframes in Europe and recently began targeting the Unix and Windows NT markets.
