Personal computer maker Gateway said on Wednesday it plans to sell its professional business segment to MPC Computers, based in Nampa, Idaho, for about $90 million. MPC specializes in providing computers for small and midsize businesses, government clients and educations markets.

Gateway, which said it embarked on a consumer-focused strategy earlier this year, expects the deal to close early in the fourth quarter. Taiwan's Acer said last month it will buy Gateway for $710 million to expand its U.S. presence.
